Department of Dravyaguna deals with pharmacology, pharmacognosy and conservation of medicinal plants.
Vision
To establish a platform for research that integrates ancient ayurvedic knowledge with modern scientific understanding of medicinal plants. To comprehensively study the properties, actions and therapeutic uses of plants.
Mission
- Dravyaguna provides knowledge and skill in analyzing medicinal plants. Exploring their origin, nature, qualities and effects on human body. Aligning with modern pharmacology and pharmacognosy to promote effective herbal treatments based on ayurvedic principles.
- Department also emphasizes on conservation of rare herbs, selection of alternative herbs, and also promotion of cultivation for the purpose of preparation of medicine.
DEPARTMENT FACILITIES
- Museum: Museum displaying wet and dry specimen for studying morphology, used part of plants and depicts method of preservation of plant parts for study purpose.
- Library: Includes wide collection of books related to subject.
- Laboratory: Well equipped laboratory for drug analysis done as a part of practical and research activity.
- Herbal Garden: Various varieties of plants and its species are planted for understanding of identification, geographical variations impacting growth and morphology of plants.
